The cactus wren holds the honor of being the state bird of Arizona. It is the largest of the North American wrens, reaching lengths of 8 inches. It lives in the Southwestern U.S. and northern Mexico.
This bird lives around cholla, yucca, and saguaro plants. Although it only lives in one, it builds many decoy nests in the cactus.
The cactus wren frequents towns and cities in the desert areas. It feeds mostly on insects but also eats seeds and fruits.

If a bird's nest chance to be before you in the way in any tree, or on the ground, whether they be young ones, or eggs, and the dam sitting upon the young, or upon the eggs, you shall not take the dam with the young: But you shall in any wise let the dam go, and take the young to you; that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days.
~Deuteronomy 22:6-7
